Methods
A process for identifying the areas for change usually follows the following steps;
- Collect qualitative data, from as wide a constituency as possible about the issues , concerns, good practice , that is evident in the organisation.
- Analyse the data to identify themes that were voiced by the contributors.
- Present a draft feedback report for comments and debate within the organisation.
- Finalise the report to include the responses.
- Suggest interventions and time-scales to present to the policy/strategy team or the primary client who commissioned the work.
- Formulate and agree a plan for implementation of the system –interventions.
- Work with designated internal partners.
- Use continuous review to check progress as well as benchmark the changes at the end of the work.
- Close the contract and present final report.
This process works for a range of issues whether culture, behavioural, policy or process changes. It works with the organisation rather than imposes a process onto the existing structure. It uses the talents and ideas of people, who have expert knowledge of their own organisation. Finally, it addresses a whole-system perspective that integrates change, rather than disintegrates working structures.
