All of these scenarios could be fixed in any number of ways. My practice is to explore the issues, suggest some ways forward, socialise the ideas with the group, and only then act with them to make the change. People sometimes ask for a ‘fun’ day away, or an external activity event. Though these are incredibly enjoyable for some occasions, I prefer the contract to be based on work issues, and dealt with by the real incidences. This does not mean soul-searching, uncomfortable sessions, but genuine communication to help the team and the work improve.
